Beautiful description - I've got a right hang of your layout now! :)

Was it a conscious design to be a roaming dispatcher, or is that something along with radio throttles/etc. you'll look into at a later date?

<em>Ha!

I'd love to be able to have a dedicated dispatcher and use radios for communication (even though the prototype didn't use them in the 50's radios are more practical than wiring phones up in each town/station). My staging/control room was even called a dispatcher's office for a while.

But the reality is that we don't have enough operators as it is without pulling someone off a crew to be a dispatcher. Besides, the layout not really big enough. I'm usually able to do most of the switching required in Kenville, run a helper or two, roam around putting out fires, and do some half arsed dispatching as well.

We use wireless throttles now and have been for about 5 years. Couldn't operate without them.

Scott

Another interesting report.
Of the two and half hours, how much is setting on sidings?

Doug

<em>It really depends on the session, but I'd say 15 or 20 minutes would be about the maximum. But because it's spread out over the 2.5 hours and you're able to talk to different people along the way it goes by fairly quickly, I think. I've had no complaints about the waiting time, even when the Moncton guys were here and all $%# broke loose! Wait times were quite long that session.
