I am a model railroader from Summerside, Prince Edward Island – on the east coast of Canada.
I don’t remember having much of an interest in trains during my younger years. I barely noticed the trains around here, which left P.E.I. in 1989.
I blame my interest in model railroading on both my sister and PBS. My sister gave me a train set for Christmas in 1989 (coincidence?). Shortly after that I noticed PBS was airing a show called “Tracks Ahead” (I think) where they built a 4′ x 8′ model railroad.
My interest waned for a couple years in the early 90’s, until I met a group of guys in Summerside who were also interested in model railroading.
It’s been full steam ahead (pardon the intentional pun) for me ever since.
The BS&T is my 4th, and largest, model railroad at 12′ x 30′. It won’t be the last. I’m already planning the next one and the BS&T isn’t even half done yet.
